Judy Williamson Lyle, affectionately known as "Grandma," went home to Jesus on June 22, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on August 6, 1939, in Columbus, Georgia, and was a long-time resident of Gainesville. Judy was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church, where she lovingly served on the Flower Guild and was an active part of the Good News at Noon meal team. A proud alumna of the University of Georgia, she earned both her undergraduate and master's degrees before devoting her career to teaching at Lanier Technical College.
An avid gardener and member of the Hall County Master Gardeners, Judy found great joy in nature, her flower beds, and time spent with family. A devoted and doting wife, she especially treasured walks with her husband, Roy, often hand in hand, taking in the beauty of each season.
She was known for her beautiful sewing, delicious home-cooked meals, and love of reading. Some of her most cherished memories were made on camping trips with her grandchildren.
Judy was preceded in death by her father, Robert Williamson; her mother, Francis Keefe; and her stepson, Jeff Lyle. She is survived by her beloved husband of 51 years, Roy Lyle; her brother, Mike (Jeanette) Williamson of
Carpinteria, CA; her children, Hayden Hudson and Will (MaryAnn) Hudson; her stepdaughter, Teresa (Larry) Peck; grandchildren, Heather (Chip) Lovern, Whitney Hammond (fiancé Chris Spears), Andrew (Courtney) Peck, Matthew (Katie) Peck, Trey Hudson, and Jake Hudson; ten treasured great-grandchildren; and one particularly bold backyard squirrel who always knew where to find a snack.
A private service was held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at Little & Davenport Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Judy's memory to First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville.
